Ovul Durmusoglu (TR/AT)

Istanbul/Vienna based curator and critic. Durmusoglu completed her BA in Translation and Interpreting at Bogazici University (Istanbul) and MFA at the theory branch of Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design in Sabanci University (Istanbul). She was a participant of Critical Studies (2005-06) at Malmö Art Academy. Besides contributing to the local art and culture magazines in Turkey such as Genis Aci, Cogito, Kaos GL, she has been working in the core team of Altyazi Monthly Cinema Magazine (Istanbul) since its foundation. She published her recent articles at Paletten (Gothenburg), n.paradoxa (London) and Muhtelif (Istanbul/Berlin). Durmusoglu gave public talks on feminism, performance art and pornography in Istanbul and Ankara. After co-curating “Ittihad Sigorta Exhibition” (Istanbul) at 2005, she participated in the projects realized by Critical Studies 2005-06 Collective such as “Common Ground” (Rooseum Test Site/Malmö), “Lund Museum” (Galleri Pittura/Lund) and Billboard for “Normalization” (Rooseum/Malmö). In 2006, she inititated and organized international street action performances and talk series “EXOCiTi” (Istanbul). Recently, she has been involved with some projects of Generali Foundation (Vienna) and curated the billboard project for Radikal newspaper “RadikalArt: Face-to-Face” presenting over 40 contemporary artworks all around Istanbul.
